There comes a time
The mirror shows
A face we feel
We do not know
So turn away
Deny the glass
Believe our seasons
Will not pass.
But time, insistent,
Tries our door
Anger rises
Wanting more
Why must the years
So quickly fly?!
Why must we say hello
Then goodbye?
Frustration follows
Sharp and keen,
For dreams half-built
The might-have-been.
We count the losses
Tally tears,
And mourn the
Speeding receding years.
Yet fear itself
Is just a guest,
It comes to teach
Not to arrest.
It whispers truths
We wish to hide,
Strangely being
On our side.
Acceptance
Soft and slow,
Arrives when
Fighting’s done
We know.
The tides of time
No one can stem,
Yet peace does bloom
From the roots of them.
At last acceptance
gentle, wise,
Sunrise shining
Through our eyes.
Finding grace
In letting go,
Of all we’ve come
To love and know.
Every wrinkle
Every scar,
Is proof of just how
Brave you are;
The turning years
Stories spun
Not just endings
But a whole new begun.
